Hi Charles and all,
I think this is old, we dont have new stat (we will try to make then)
but those are some of our stats in Brasil in 2007:
~750.000 downloads on www.broffice.org (only in Brasil) but we have
mirrors that we don´t control for the stat.
95% for windows
5% for linux
On Debian we have all downloads from there mirrors that we don´t have stat.
We have ~10.000.000 desktops with BrOo/OOo in Brasil that could be 1/4
desktops in Brasil. Those desktop could have other Office software not
only BrOo/OOo.
www.broffice.org have ~170 Gb/b day. 5000 visits/day
Our server in 2007 work with 90 and 100% CPU and memory all year (does
any one could give us one better server we do need)
9000+ users on BrOffice.org portal
We have zine (+30.000 downloads), newsletter that is manage by volunters.
We have more that 100 users working on all projects.
We help make more that 50 events in Brazil per year with allmost 0 cost
and we make one big meeting with more that 1000 people spreed all over
Brazil and world.
But now *we need a lot of help* because our main guy change job and on
the new job can not have internet acess.

Hi Charles and Alexandro,
Sorry I have not think about that. If we do that we will be noticed
for the day that Internet Stoped :P
And sure we have better numbers. In Brazil FF use 20% of our server.
OOo use 70%. Alot more downloads.
Regards,
Marcus

Well big difference is the filesize of course. Also I will still be
a bit suspicious if the servers get jammed or not. I remember when
we released 2.3 we got 2 days with very jammed servers/mirrors.

Can we do better than Firefox??

Sounds like a good deal, right? All you have to do is get Firefox
3 during Download Day to help set the record for most software
downloads in 24 hours - it's that easy. We're not asking you to
swallow a sword or to balance 30 spoons on your face, although
that would be kind of awesome.
By the way, the official date for the launch of Firefox 3 will be
posted here soon - so check back! Join our community and this
effort by pledging today.

You'll find me monomaniac, but we do already have some very nice
numbers (although we're far from FF). This is why we need to
communicate on them, hence my suggestion several days ago :-) ...
best,
Perhaps one day we'll be able to set a new guiness world record :-) .
But once again, let's share and publish our stats numbers. For
instance, let's talk about BrOffice.org servers. 70% of the server's
downloads are great, but how many downloads does this amount to?
Thanks,
Charles.
