supporting OOo

Hi *,
I'm going to give a talk about funding the project at OOoCon 08.
Instead of focusing on the "centralistic" way, I'd like to focus on
a network of associations.
I know, that there already are several lokal associations supporting
OOo and our Communiy Contributors (I'm founding member of one of
them). But at the moment I'd guess, nobody knows the "whole picture".
So - if you are member (or know) of such an association, can you
please send me information about it?
I'm interested in the ways you support OOo, how you coordinate with
the OOo contributors, what the main reasons for funding the
assocition were. If you like, you can give some background
information about the association or share thoughts what the
positive (and maybe negative) effects of such an association are.
A link to the association's website and the location (geographical)
would be very helpful to set up a global map.

In France we have the CUSOON. It is a NPO, quite small and it
basically helps with funding local marketing but also some
developments. It is usually much better when the NPO and the native-
lang project work together. Sometimes, it's not the case. But then,
the native-lang project loses resources and the NPO has no purpose
anymore, which sucks. I think that given the french example, the NPO
should be used as a support tool but also as a promotion tool,
extending the reach of the native-lang project to areas where a web
platform is not the preferred choice, such as the business community.
Other than that, it should work pretty well. Do you have more specific
questions?
