I think the archival process is to keep the mirrors lighter, as the archived releases are not mirrored, they are served from apache infrastructure directly.

I do not see it bad to archive it as lon as we update the download page and our update center to point to the archived release.

Or we can just take the easier first option there and keep it where it
is without having to worry about links everywhere?  I guess the
archive means that old inbound links remain working?  But still, in my
opinion we don't do work we don't need to do.
