The short answer is that I consider a macOS installer (actually all installers) without an integrated runtime a bad idea! If you want to use an alternative JDK, use the zip. The longer answer is that at least one of the two ASF certificates that were handed over from John to me are about to expire. This is a good time to hand over the task if anyone wishes to take on the release management job for this artefact. That point has been raised a number of times previously and no-one has stood up to offer. Given "short answer" I will be concentrating my own time on delivery of the community installers - I do not want to spend time building, notarizing and signing something I consider a bad idea. That does not stop anyone else from working on and supporting the RC and release versions of this. I can also help someone with the NBPackage commands and notarization instructions for both. None of this stops anyone on the PMC deciding to put their time into working on, taking on responsibility, and releasing official installers again in future. Or even offering to work on them now in time for NB26.
