I'd be really annoyed if we lost the current tab behaviour, and yet also would love an option to selectively open top components in separate windows without any tab support, particularly within my RCP app rather than IDE. Is the problem that we conflate two ideas in Float? One is SDI and the other is MDI across multiple windows. Perhaps we need different options with Float (or Undock) being single window, and an option more like New Document Tab Group that opens in a new tab-able window? But while we only have one option, my vote is on keeping the current behaviour.
