Bruno Busco commented on OFBIZ-2103:
------------------------------------
Of course I agree with you David, consistency is a means to an end. An
application could be perfectly consistent but useless.
Of course this will never be the case of OFBiz.
The goal I am trying to reach is to have UI more user friendly, easier to find
things, easier to remember how to operate, more room for what is really needed.
Consistency helps user, for example, to know that clicking on a "edit" button
he will always be taken to a page where all information related to the item
located to THE RIGHT of the edit button will be displayed.
If this function is reached with an "edit" button for an item, clicking on the
ID hyperlink for another item, this will get the user life harder and IMO will
not give the users a good impression of the product they are using OR
EVALUATING.
OFBiz has a great feature that is modularity. Components and applications can
be plugged in easily. But, IMO, once they are plugged toghether they should
work as a complete unique application. If we do not have strong consistency
between applications I think we will end to have a sort of Frankestein
application and this will be clearly visible to users.
This link is, of course, not a Bible but can help to explain (not sure it is
needed) http://www.ambysoft.com/essays/userInterfaceDesign.html

> Hi,
> I did some update on webtool JobList.
> Basically the JobList follows now a more recent pattern with usage of
> PerformFind, Sortable columns and Collapsible FindScreenDecorator.
> I tryed it in a framework-only installation but it should work in a full
> OFBiz also.
> If this is OK I think I will do a similar job on ServiceList.
