Its somewhat inconvenient that the display template of a blog entry is baked into the story reference. It doesn't make sense at the design level because it combines the model and the view. An obvious example of the shortcoming is if you want to have the same story appear in several different blogs with different layouts in each. It would almost make more sense to have the template be specified as part of the association (ie. embed this in this and display it there with this template).
