Scott,

I already tried a notice from the user mailing list. I got some answers then http://ofbiz.uservoice.com/forums/45214-general but not much (almost any) answers after this moment. I did any notices in user ML but got already one answer from main page. I'd just like to see how it will go for, say some days. Then we will know if it's worth it. I'm pretty sure that a link in a page in the wiki is a waste of time.

Anyway if you really feel it should be removed go ahead. It's not a big deal for now, only an experiment. I agree it makes some changes. It's another way, not meritocracy (only PMC members have a voice, and a veto) but democratie (anybody can suggest and vote, but nothing may happen). Because nothing may happen, some would say it's populism. But I'm confident in users cleverness, and some new interesting ideas may come up. Also we may caught users interest beyond ours (for instance 1st suggestion is a QB export)
I believe the best place is the home page, because it where it should have the
best exposure (we have any measures)

Well that makes it a little difficult to determine how useful it was being. I
would still like to see it removed from the main
page for now. Why not just create a wiki page with an overview of the tool's
purpose and link to it from that? You could point
people to it in mailing list discussions and over time we can see how useful it
might be.

Actually I already tried 2 tools from user ML
http://markmail.org/message/dfwmoj45cgojgp5d

I chose ideascale because it allows negative votes

Jacopo, Scott,

What kind of issues do you fear?

Actually no fear nor issues: just a bit of confusion. And also it seems to me more
natural to test a tool "internally" (i.e.
in the dev list) and if we like it then make it official and publish it. But I
don't have a strong opinion, and if you think
it is the right way to go then for me it's fine.

I would prefer to keep it off the main page until the community proves that it
is something they want by using it, at that
point we could consider making it an official resource. I don't want the main
page to be a proving ground for ideas that
may or may not work out.

Actually I'd want to measure what happens from the main site. If there are
nothing of few changes it will not be worth to
create something in OFBiz. In one month or so we should have an idea about that.

Understood.
What if, in this testing phase, we remove the reference from the official page
of the project and just point to it when
needed in conversation in the lists?

Hi Jacopo,

Yes that's why I was reluctant to do it. I don't expect much of it. As I said
it's much a test than anything else. If it
proves useful we could develop something specific for that based on Survey. I
think that Ruth is already using Survey on
her site.

Hi Jacques,

it seems interesting but I feel like we should try to avoid (whenever possible)
to base our community processes and
workflows on resources that are not part of the ASF.

My 2 cents,

Jacopo
