production planning which is missing. Further there are fixed assets

What is needed is a scheduler which plans the production runs
looking at the last possible finish date and the available fixed
assets (machines/equipment/tools) used in the runs.
Question to the community:
Anybody already looked into how to do the production planning in
manufacturing?
