Pierre Smits commented on OFBIZ-5420:
-------------------------------------

Christian,

Are you going about this the right way?

BoMs are used for manufacturing. BoMs shouldn't be used for external ordering.

If you want the cost price of an end product to be calculated correctly (for
accounting purposes) than you should start with setting the estimated cost per
raw-material, component or sub-assembly if you do not know the latest price.
When producing the end product in manufacturing these values are used to
calculate the cost price and generate the appropriate inventory valuation and
gl transactions.

When you do inventory receipts (against purchase orders) then you will get the
actual price that will be used from then (based on the costing schema (FIFO,
LIFO, etc).

> Add ability to separately price BOM elements for orders

> I have a scenario where a company individually prices BOM elements of
> assembled products ordered. So if an item is manufactured from 2 component
> products, the company needs to be able to specify prices for both of the
> components to made up the total parent product cost.
