Pierre Smits commented on OFBIZ-5569:
-------------------------------------

Christian,

Patch OFBIZ-5706 does deliver the 'who' that work on a task (that includes
operators, inspectors and any other person in a role that might be applicable
to the task). And standard manufacturing processes for starting and stopping
tasks delivers the when. And standard declare the 'what' with regards to items
produced (good and bad).

As for time registration: as soon as a person is assigned to a task, he can
register his time in the time registration functions in other components
(workeffort, myportal).

As for the 'why' regarding inspection and bad output, this seems to be related
to content.

You have to take into consideration that the manufacturing component is also
intended to be applicable in the business scenarios where the operators of
manufacturing tasks are blue collar workers without access to terminals to
register task and/or production output, and that all registrations regarding a
production run is performed by the production manager. It seems you are
envisioning another kind of manufacturing processes.

Best regards,

Pierre

> There doesn't seem to be a standard method for handling production run
> inspections that offer any real power in terms of reporting. The system
> already lacks time entry functionality which will be added in OFBIZ-5532.
> Once time entry functionality is added to the declaration services,
> TimeEntryAssoc could be created to link an inspection time entries to a
> manufacturing work time entries to represent an inspection of manufacturing
> work. The goal is to be able to determine the number of bad pieces produced
> per manufacturing worker and who was the inspector. The functionality should
> also be flexible and powerful enough to distinguish who is actually at fault
> for the bad piece. In most cases, the manufacturing workers will be at
> fault, but there could be times where an inspector might accidentally drop a
> good or potentially good piece and the system should be able to flag them as
> the party actually responsible for the defect.
