Hi,

I have recently updated open office to the latest version & since doing so a
problem with spell check has occurred in that after typing a document or letter &
clicking on spell check, it states almost every word is incorrect but makes no
suggestions for corrections.

Have other people experienced this problem & is there a solution.

Thank you

Kind Regards

Hi Kevin;

If you upgraded to version 3.4.0 or 3.4.1 directly from version 3.3.x or less than the problem is most likely in the profile and is covered in the release notes. You can find them here: http://www.openoffice.org/development/releases/3.4.1.html#AOO3.4.1ReleaseNotes-KnownIssues

Apache OpenOffice 3.4.0 and 3.4.1 manage the user profile differently than previous versions. The old user profile is automatically converted so that users can keep their extensions and settings. In a minority of cases, especially with highly customized profiles (many extensions or customizations) the conversion doesn't succeed. Common symptoms are: frequent application crashes, problems with dictionaries or thesaurus, OpenOffice starting and crashing after a few seconds. To solve this, just reset/rename your user profile as explained in the official OpenOffice forum. http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12426

If this does not clear the problem I would suggest that you post and inquiry to the support mailing list at [email protected] or at the community forum at http://forum.openoffice.org explaining that you have tried the advice in the release notes with no success.
