You might also want something like this page: http://openoffice.apache.org/get-involved.html That is the one that we point users to initially. The idea is to first motivate the reader to take action, and then show them how to take action. I found that earlier versions, that went straight to the "how to get started" material were ineffective. It is like an advertisement that starts with "Call now to order!". You first need to motivate the potential volunteer before they will make that step.
