Hi! It might be easier to get support from the user forum ( http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/). Please describe further what happens when you try to open a file and what operating system you are using. I have seen such problems caused by a hung OpenOffice process. The easiest fix, not knowing your level of expertise, is to shutdown the computer and restart it.
