Hello Marcia,

that sounds to me as if you opened a mail attachment which contained malware. If you've already got Open Office (which I believe you mean by "pen Office") you shouldn't receive such a message because Open Office is free and won't suddenly tell you that there isn't any office software on your computer. I'd suggest you to make a run with some antivirus software and then you check if your OpenOfffice is still working correctly.

My computer was purchased on July 1st from Staples in Bradenton. FL   and
it came with the pen Office program.  I have used it up until this  week. All
of a sudden when trying to open something sent to me by e-mail, I get  a
notice that I do not have Office.
   A box comes up asking me if I want to try a trial program and/or if  I
already have it, to type in a 25 digit number from my sales receipt. When I
tried typing that in, it only accepted about 9 of the 25 digits.  HELP>
