The Help is available for extension developers [1], "something else" would mean an incompatible change, and any incompatible change should wait until AOO 5; of course, that "else" could be backwards compatible during AOO4 lifetime, but this would overcomplicate development (besides that "something else" means writing new code and somebody has to do this).
