I confirm the problem persist, but it's NOT related to the actual release,
it's happening also with older versions (followed Patricia's hint, good
spot!).
For the sake of it I have also installed Java, but it does not depend on
that.

Whatever is the root cause, it's clearly not an Apache OpenOffice * problem.
