On en-Forum all first postings have to be approved by a moderator; this gives 
prompt assessment and removal of obvious spam.  Some spammers will make a 
number of trivial replies or replies with meaningful information, often 
unattributed text from other sources, so their information looks OK, then 
subsequently edit their messages to insert spam; we usually catch these fairly 
promptly.
