with wsl we can run multiple linux distributions from windows itself, this
would be interesting and pretty useful in developing apps for multiple
platforms (such as openoffice)

seems wsl is already being considered widely for running linux based apps
from windows   Ex:
https://backstage.io/docs/getting-started/configuration#prerequisites

looking forward to progress on this
