Dear Sir,
I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Md Niaz Morshed (*[email protected]
<[email protected]>*), and I am leading a team conducting a research
study titled *“Understanding Information Needs When Looking for Security
Issues During Code Review in Open-Source Software (OSS): A Survey."*
The purpose of this study is to better understand how developers identify
and address security issues during peer code review in open-source
projects. We aim to explore the types of information developers rely on,
the challenges they face, and where support mechanisms can be improved. We
invite you to participate in an anonymous survey that will take
approximately 20-25 minutes to complete. Your responses will contribute to
a broader understanding of current practices and help identify
opportunities to improve security-focused code review.
Participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time. No
personally identifiable information will be collected. Upon completing the
survey, you will have the option to enter a raffle for a chance to receive
one of two $50 gift cards. Participation in the raffle is voluntary and
will require you to visit a separate survey to provide your email address.
In this way, your email address will not be associated with survey
responses. Winners will be selected at random and notified via email after
the survey concludes. The research has been approved by the University of
Alabama Institutional Review Board.
I would greatly appreciate it if you could share the survey link below with
your project's developers and code reviewers. Thank you in advance.
