I think that we are different to a browser. If you start to type
something into your browser's address bar, you will want to open web
page. So all a browser has to do is search all possible sources of URLs
(history, bookmarks, online repos etc.) to make predictions.
What do we expect a user to enter into an OOo search bar? Help content?
File names? In what folders? Document content? Web searches? UI commands
in the menu? etc. etc.
So while a multi search tool would be a nice idea, we have to solve the
possible ambiguities.
Since I use OpenOffice.org for documents, it was my idea to seach in the
file names, that are already presented in the hyperlink toolbar.
Therefore I wrote: "I.e., when I type "tool" all files with tool in the
full name are presented." Which is far more convenient than the current use.
