If you have c++ knowledge and the chart type you have in mind would be
of common interest one could think to integrate it into the
OpenOffice.org core code.
There is also an option to create an add-on, but that would not
integrate with the user interface. So you would not see your new chart
type in the chart wizard but would need to add an extra menu item
somewhere else, wihtin the calc menu for example.
