I agree that there's room for improvement, but local indexing is a released
feature that's been out for some time. Users are already relying on it. That's
the kind of argument you should put forth back here[1] back in July, but not
after it's been released over multiple releases.
IMHO, this patch is an incremental improvement. Orthogonal to this, maybe
someone can volunteer to negotiate for an acceptable LimitedPrivate interface.
The soonest we'd need this would be post HBase 1.0, no?
