Josh Elser commented on PHOENIX-4448:

bq. PHOENIX-3757 removed the usage of Hadoop Metrics API and the sink

Wrong JIRA id? I'm not seeing anything obvious that you changed (might just be
me though).

bq. are still using features offered by metrics2 library. How should we handle
this?

Sorry, I'm not following what the concern is. While we want to support HBase
1.x releases, we have to use the Hadoop Metrics2 APIs directly. If we move to
HBase 2, we can leverage the HBase Metrics API instead. Does that help?

> PHOENIX-3757 removed the usage of Hadoop Metrics API and the sink. However
> there are still some classes that are lying in place and probably not being
> used elsewhere. This JIRA is to track the cleanup of those classes.
