Hi Chris,
in component explorer, I see only mouse events, keypress events are not fired 
for textInput and TextArea.
It seems that no key event is captured: navigating in a table doesn't work
I also try out Opera: same problem
Note: PIVOT-707 seems to be a similar issue; the main difference is that I 
don't have to switch tabs to get the problem

I found out that, even if I press the mouse inside the applet (anywhere in the 
applet or in the textInput), focus is not transferred to the applet. Focus 
remains in the browser's URL input or search input, and the typed characters 
are displayed there, not in the applet
