I debugged it under Chrome and found what is the problem. When you click
outside of the applet area, and then back, the REQUEST_GAINED event is *not*
sent to the applet.
So you have to regain focus manually.
Adding requestFocus() on key press event does the trick.
Attaching a patch (just one single line).
