Hi, PowerPoint library (HSLF) is under active development. There were many bug fixes and new features in the recently released POI 3.0.2.
I have a plan to move HSLF out of scratchpad but not sure how soon it will happen. We are planning a maintenance release this summer, probably PowerPoint code will be moved in the main POI jar by that time. Why can't you use POI scratchpad for now? For Maven it is available under artifact ID "poi-scratchpad".
