Question. Is the original poster talking about using the "File-->Save..." option or the "File-->save As..." option?
"File-->Save" (for the initial save of a new document) only presented a restricted number of options in 1.1.3, IIRC. However it does not appear to occur in 1.1.4 (on linux at least. I'll check on Win 98SE....). Nope, behaves as expected on 98SE as well...
