I hear your point about the colors.
Since we all have our preference I think it would be tough to find a
color scheme that we all like.
So perhaps as you said something as neutral as possible would be the best.

The idea was to have two matching color shades that have enough
contrast for the menu and the main area.
(The 3rd color was only for the main page to highlight the brokers and
clients boxes)

So during on the weekend I could have another stab at making it as
neutral possible.
