I am also not sure about that, but "**_Code scanning / CodeQL_**" is reporting them as "may not be secure, consider using a different algorithm". See below. @coheigea is it possible CodeQL has configuration issue? To prevent scope creep, I created a new ticket [SANTUARIO-620](https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SANTUARIO-620) to implement the secureValidation feature for the rest comments/questions.
