Hello Martin

Thank you for your kind reply.

I don't have an account on Apache JIRA. My situation is that I've always been a solo developer and I've not had to use systems for Version control, agile, JIRA, etc, etc. So if you will forgive me, I would just like not to have to learn those systems. I understand it would be preferable for me to do so, as it would allow me to integrate more with your development team.

I am happy to complete the task you have given me, and after that I would like to go back to my own software development that I have as a hobby. I am a retired accountant. Recently I've been interested in Data Science, and can put together projects using the R language. I wasn't really looking for tasks but was looking at the Apache site due to their future (after Java version 9) adoption of Java Development from Oracle. Out of curiosity, I came across the 'help wanted' link, and that is how we met. When people need help, it is always a human thing to do what you can in the moment.

Yes, I saw Siddhesh's JavaFX development. It will be useful to be able to get different views of these files.

Kind regards

Rob

Hello Rob

No problem, health is most important. I wish you speedy recovery. There
is no rush, take your time. A document table is great, if you want it
would be nice to add it to SIS-331:

     https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SIS-331

(Note: do you have an account on Apache JIRA? If yes, would you like to
be owner of that task?)

In the meantime, I have done a little bit of simplification in the code
that use AttributeName for implementing the actual mapping (but without
changing the mapping). In this process, I created a new JIRA task
documenting the mapping that we may question (only one case for now).
The reason is that I think the XSL file is based on the 2003 version of
ISO 19115 while the new revision published in 2014 could cause us to
reconsider a few choices.

     https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SIS-361

If we discover more cases that could be revisited, we can add them to
SIS-161 then submit them to the UNIDATA community.

Indeed, reading a XSL file is tedious. It makes you work yet more
appreciated! Siddhesh Rane is working on a JavaFX application which will
allow us to see the metadata in a convenient way. It will not help for
the XSL file, but it will allow us to see more easily the result of
those mapping on concrete examples.

     Regards,

         Martin

Hello Martin

I have not abandoned you, it's just that I have had a medical problem
which has caused me to be out of sorts for a few days. It is now being
treated with antibiotics and should clear up hopefully within a week.
I am busy preparing a word processing document table showing the
matched and unmatched mapping of the ACDD attribute names in the
various parts of the AttributeNames class Javadoc. Also, the mapping
of the path info between the Javadoc and ISO-19115.

I must say, visually reading the XSL file is difficult. I even used
the Netbeans XML window to view the file and get to the hierarchy of
interest to us. One can normally get to a branch or node name by using
"find" though.

Kind regards

Rob
