[~rombert], although the log-API mentions MessageFormat, I didn't find an
invocation which uses any of the more advanced functionalities. Don't you think
it would be acceptable to write a very limited MessageFormat implementation
which is used here instead of java.text.MessageFormat (and does guarantee to
not throw an exception and would just ignore the advanced formatting
capabilities).
