Generally speaking I'd say no - eg if the URL is pointing to a load-balancer
which happens to be configured to route traffic to the local instance.. for the
simplistic 'localhost' case perhaps yes.. but then that's only a partial
solution.
bq. But I think we're trying to come up with a big solution for a minor
problem, a typical Sling discovery user does not have.
