Hi all,

Firstly, to build on the momentum from the first two workshops, Jason and I
have scheduled the first Office Hours to help new contributors get up to speed
on Solr’s codebase, though with a focus on helping folks move forward on the V2
API work....

We are following the same pattern of a 9 AM and 4 PM EST time slot that we’ve
been using, and the first one is THIS THURSDAY, Nov 10th.

We are anticipating doing some code reviews, maybe some group swarming, as well
as pair programming getting environments set up. Depending on turnout and
reception, we will figure out how often these sessions will happen. Weekly?
Biweekly? Monthly?

We’d also love to have additional folks join us who are familiar with the code
base to guide new folks through the code. We’ll see how this all works out
and how sustainable it is! We could think about having a rotating set of
folks hosting office hours to share that load if this proves successful.

We’ve had ~30 people show up at the second pair of workshop, so that’s
encouraging!

Secondly, a lot of folks asked “how do I write tests for Solr”, and we realized
that is a pretty large subject all by itself. Jason volunteered to do a third
workshop on testing in Solr, which we have scheduled for Nov 17th. Thanks
Jason!
