But it is also very pertinent here..
many people think that invalid return addresses are ok to accept
for delivery -- when the RFC's are pretty clear that they MUST
be rejected at the earliest point possible -- since without
a valid return address, no failure message can be sent --
and that is required.
If SA is running as a filter attached to a mailer, the SA documentation
should make it clear that ISP's should not accept mail for delivery if
the return address is easily verifiable as invalid. (like no address
"<>", or an invalid domain).
About 5-10 % (margin has been growing) of my incoming SPAM mail comes
from invalid or bogus domains, yet it's one of the easiest types of spam
to filter out before the email enters the system.
