I am also rather nervous about clients talking directly to zookeeper to
know where nimbus is. Zookeeper is really the scaling bottle neck in storm
storm right now, and each time a client connects to it, a write occurs. This
is going to significantly increase the write load on the ZK cluster used with
storm.
I think this is fine for a small cluster and I am OK with it going in
without this, but if we want a decently large cluster we need an option where
the client will try to connect to a hard coded list of hosts and ask them which
one is the leader.
