    Yes that is the behavior of original kafka spout. The buffer size is equal 
to number of records fetched in single call to kafka broker. Since next fetch 
call is made only when the whole buffer has been emitted, there is a cap on the 
number of messages pending in memory. I think @hmcl  has tried to enforce that 
cap using Batch poll strategy. apart from that, two spouts are very different. 
    
    In this spout, Batch poll strategy essentially means that spout won't move 
forward till all the polled records have been acked and committed. So even if 
only one message has not been acked, spout won't fetch more data. That will 
result in very poor throughput. 
    
    The key difference between the two spouts is that older blocks till the 
whole buffer is emitted. Newer spout blocks till the whole buffer has been 
acked and committed.
