Good point. IMHO, we should think about plugging in to Spring or Hivemind sooner than later. Ideally, we should think about putting the IOC container behind a pluggable facade, so we can have our choice of IOC container. I'm using Spring.NET with the C# implementation of Chain, and it works great!

I think this is one of the reasons I'm keen on figuring out a "Struts Application API" bean. I'm afraid it will be more disruptive than adopting the ActionContext, though. Isn't the best route to using an IOC container defining something into which the IOC container can "inject dependencies"?
