Agreed that Bamboo and Maven can "approximate" a nightly build, but I for one find it much more convenient to simply download an already packaged build. It's much easier to grab this, unzip it, get the latest jars and go. Maven is nice if your project is using Maven, but in my case I'm not and I'm sure there are others in the same boat as me.
