if you have a enum which has the value of dev, test, prod (or
something else depending on the environment), and you use it in
conditionals you end up with special-case code in the app, which is
what I think is bad and you seem not to prefer.
Isn't that what other thread participants are saying, though? That the app
should know as little as possible about the environment?
As I understand it the others are in favour of the environment dependant
enum as mentioned by the URL James originally pointed to at
http://blogs.sun.com/rlubke/entry/jsf_2_0_new_feature2
