Francesco, Yes, it indeed looks complimentary. We could explore the complimentary/overlapping aspects together to avoid redundancies and learn from past experiences.
Currently I don't know where it stands at the ASF. Several parties expressed viewpoints, and I responded to them. The PoC is mine, but the resources can be made available. I submitted the PoC as a talk for ApacheCon EU 2014, but it got rejected by the gatekeepers. I also have submitted it as a talk for upcoming FOSDEM 2016, but no response to that yet.
