I would certainly mention the JavaOne session (it sounded compared to
feedback others who proposed talks got it was at a very early stage, so
there must be interest in the subject;-)

Maybe those who suggested a leaner, more modular API (Mark, Gerhard,...)
could best say a word or two on these thoughts?
