Nexus is a repository manager. It front-ends the repository, allowing
http access (as usual), but also providing management tools for
searching, etc. From Maven's perspective, it's just another http://-
style repo. From an end-user and repo administrator, it's
substantially improved. Also, the Nexus index is used in the
m2eclipse plugin to provide lookups of artifacts from within eclipse's
maven support.

I would love that over the current process but I'm nervous about
letting Maven make changes to its own poms and check them in! I have
not used Nexus, can you describe it?

I've included [4]+[5] for some repository related discussions.
