Henrique Mendonca commented on THRIFT-1782:
-------------------------------------------
Sure guys, I agree with you that we should keep thrift updated with the latest
improvements of the framework. I could not find any documentation on which
framework version we target but in my opinion we should at least support 4 or
3.5 as well (+ Mono for linux).
Anyway, the "async" keyword does not do the same as the SILVERLIGHT
pre-processor variable, I think it is meant only for the CTP support, and I saw
before many more references to SILVERLIGHT in the code enabling the async
functions, not only that one you propose to remove.
I think this is an improvement and we should eventually get it to the trunk,
but we do have to work a little more on it.
Thanks heaps again!

> The async pattern is available in C# 5 on .NET 4.5. Thus, it shouldn't only
> be for Silverlight.
