Johan van der Knijff commented on TIKA-1491:
--------------------------------------------
Based on the JPEG examples I created corresponding BPG files using libbpg
(available at [[http://bellard.org/bpg/]]). For each image I used the following
command line:
{{bpgenc image.jpg -o image.bpg -keepmetadata}}
Don't have the time now to check that all metadata are really preserved, but
from a cursory glance in a hex editor I see the BPGs do contain XML formatted
metadata and ICC profiles, possibly more. I zipped all the BPGs and added them
as an attachment above. Hope this helps.

> Following the release of the [BPG (Better Portable
> Graphics)|http://bellard.org/bpg/] format a few days ago, I created the magic
> definitions for this format. See attached file. I've tested this against the
> example files listed [here|http://fileformats.archiveteam.org/wiki/BPG].
> Note that no officially registered MIME type exists for this format. I picked
> {{image/bpg}} as this would be the most obvious choice, but I don't know if
> Tika sticks to any policy in such cases?
