Hmpf … I think tomorrow around lunch time things will become a LOT easier …
It’s currently a hen-egg problem … as soon as the tools are released, and I 
updated the repo to use the released versions I think all of your problems will 
disappear.
So not sure it’s worth investigating this in too much detail right now, because 
I am afraid it could simply produce more frustration than the learning effort 
is worth.

When I originally did this, it failed. Once I had done it in the top-level 
directory, it thereafter worked in all subdirectories, so there’s clearly some 
kind of priming of the pump that happens with that initial build.
