I would prefer the .Xcas variants. Why distinguish between serialized and binary?
This is rather a convention concerning the CasIOUtils, right? The code works right now with any file extension (exception: xcas). The output is specified by the given outputstream. Well, for the CAS Editor, I could really use that convention in order to link the editor.
