So I did a bit of a tightrope walking here. On the one hand, trying to preserve
the content of the original page. On the other hand, remove content that is
redundant with general Apache Foundation information and instead link to the
respective Apache pages.

I think UIMA is probably a bit too large to be a true one-pager.

Hm, indeed. I didn't think like a researcher on this one ;) I guess probably
most Apache projects don't have citation information on their landing pages -
and there might be a
reason for that because could give the appearance of linking the project to a
specific
institution or people that may or may no longer be associated with the project.
In our
case that would be IBM and the team around Ferrucci. So if we add citation
information,
maybe that could be done in a neural way, referring specifically to the Apache
UIMA
project and not to the original UIMA paper. That said, having a subpage with
publications
related to the project might still be reasonable. I did add links to papers on
the ecosytsem
cards - but open to discussion.

So I used Claude to help me with the site. And it is a draft - there's probably
still quite a lot to clean up. I put the draft into the "new-site-v1" branch on
https://github.com/apache/uima-site (which is not actually the repo from which
the UIMA website is built - it still comes from Subversion at this time) - but
the staging comes from the "new-site-v1" there at the moment.

So you could either create another branch from that "new-site-v1" and do a pull
request into "new-site-v1" (not "main"!) - or you could just commit directly to
the "new-site-v1" branch
because then the changes would become visible on the staged URL. Maybe try the
latter and we're optimistic that we won't run into conflicts 🤞

Cheers,
