What is GNOME is NOT a mission statement. Is a project description, the
difference is that a mission statement is focused on what the project want to
achieve while project description is a well.. what the project is about (not
touching goals on the long term).

Mozilla delegates the mission statement to the 'about' which OpenOffice.org also
have (is even the first option).

My roomate who is a person who NEVER went into the OOo site worked as the
perfect guinea pig. First thing he expressed is how cluttered is that page.
Also that is hard to follow and he doesnt know where he should start.

First need he wanted is to know how to download the program. He also got NO idea
of the OOo donuts and told me the image is too small to actually tell what it
is. He told me that the site was boring and that more graphics could be
included. He also expressed that he would rather want to see some 'demos' about
the product before he download them.

quote "If this is a replacement of MSO I want to know what are the comparisons
right away".

I really like this quote from Jean Hollis:
""" The most important thing about a website, especially the first (or
> "home") page, is *usability*. The site must *meet the needs of
> visitors*. It's not what you want to tell them, but *what they want to
> know*, """
