Hi, there is an upcoming discussion among some of the project leads of the "code" projects on how to structure and design the project homepages in a better way.
the accepted projects like "sw.openoffice.org" still suffers from the times where the site was mainly designed as a developer site for OpenOffice.org. In the meantime we learned that we might attract users, qa-folks, programmers more to get them into the project. So the target audience is complex, we need to address all of them or at least need to show navigation paths back and forth (if I dived into the Writer website I do not find the way to a Writer's User faq and vice versa for example). So some important questions had shown up : * How we can better navigation on the site ? How do we deal with the different groups (Users <-> contributors <-> developers ). Do we need a more clear separation between Project and Product ? * How do we integrate the existing wiki into the site (The wiki main page also is either superfluous or awful ;) )? * Do we need to reduce the number of existing project and mailing lists ? I'm unsure what is the best forum for this discussion, [EMAIL PROTECTED], project_leads or [email protected] ? Maybe it might be an idea to start this discussion in all of these forums to collect input from the different consumers and producers of those pages for one to two weeks and then come together in a smaller forum on a single mailing list and an irc meeting to wrap the hole stuff up.
